Klay Thompson says he would welcome the chance to finish his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors.
While meeting fans at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, Thompson was asked about returning to the Bay Area after his current contract expires.
“Shoot, I don’t know. I got one year on my deal. It’d be nice to end it in Golden State.”
Later, after a fan told him, “We need you on the Warriors, buddy,” Thompson smiled and replied, “Never say never.”
His comments come as uncertainty surrounds his future with the Dallas Mavericks.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Dallas is open to moving Thompson through either a trade or a buyout.
The veteran guard has one year remaining on the three-year, $50 million contract he signed in 2024.
Stein also reported that the Miami Heat have shown interest in acquiring Thompson, although there have been no reports that Golden State is pursuing a reunion.
Thompson, who turns 37 next season, spent 13 years with the Warriors, winning four NBA championships alongside Stephen Curry as one half of the iconic “Splash Bros.”
After returning from ACL and Achilles injuries, he eventually saw his role decline before leaving for Dallas.
Meanwhile, Golden State continues to be mentioned as a potential suitor for LeBron James this offseason.
