With the competitive season winding down to its conclusion at the end of this month, a sizeable number of Kerry players made the trip to Barcelona and the Sant Cerbia course last weekend for the popular Catalan International Pairs event.
Deerpark’s Damien Fleming would finish on the podium on Sunday afternoon after coming third overall with one of Irish World Cup and European Championship winning team-mates in Limerick Earls as a great final round of 12 under par saw them move to 24 under for the tournament and finish two off the winning score for the weekend. There was another Kerry pair inside the Top 10 as well as Tralee’s Jason O’Regan and Deerpark’s Connie O’Sullivan finished 10th overall with a tournament score of 18 under par.
This weekend is the final National Championship of the year as the National Inter-Club Finals take place in Lucan, Dublin on October Bank Holiday Saturday and Sunday. Deerpark are one of the 18 finalists for the event and will hope to finish in the Top 4 after Saturday’s play and make it through to the concluding semi-finals and final on Sunday.
The County Board wishes the Deerpark team the very best of luck this weekend in Lucan.
