The Celtics and Pistons are reportedly discussing a trade framework that would send Jaylen Brown to Detroit, with Jalen Duren expected to be the centerpiece in a sign-and-trade agreement.

Detroit has been one of the league’s most aggressive teams this offseason as it searches for another high-level scorer to complement Cade Cunningham.

The Pistons previously pursued players such as Austin Reaves, Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, and Coby White, though Reaves and White have already committed to returning to their current teams.

At the same time, negotiations between Detroit and Duren have stalled, with the two sides reportedly well apart on a new contract.

That situation has increased the possibility of the All-NBA center changing teams through a sign-and-trade.

Duren is coming off a breakout regular season in which he averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 70 games.

However, his production declined during the playoffs, where he averaged 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds across 14 contests.

For Boston, adding a young frontcourt player like Duren would align with the organization’s stated goal of becoming bigger and more versatile after its first-round playoff exit.

The Celtics have also shown a willingness to move Brown after previously including him in trade talks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
