While some Lakers fans were ready to move on from LeBron James, franchise legend James Worthy believes the four-time MVP deserves plenty of appreciation for what he accomplished in Los Angeles.

Speaking with TMZ Sports at Derek Fisher’s Be Better Foundation golf outing, Worthy reflected on LeBron’s time with the Lakers and the impact he made after arriving during a difficult stretch for the organization.

“For what he did for L.A. while he was here, I don’t think you can argue,” the Hall of Famer said.

Worthy noted that the Lakers were in “misery” before James joined the team and credited him for helping restore the franchise’s success, including delivering the 2020 NBA championship.

The three-time NBA champion also dismissed criticism that LeBron won only the bubble title, saying building a dynasty in today’s NBA is far more difficult than it once was.

Worthy had previously suggested James could one day earn a statue outside Crypto.com Arena.

Now that LeBron’s Lakers career has officially come to an end, the discussion over his lasting legacy in Los Angeles is sure to continue.
