Jalen Brunson kept the focus firmly on process over outcomes as the New York Knicks prepare for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, with the guard emphasizing daily improvement and discipline during a dominant postseason run.

“We just want to get better every single day,” Brunson said during Sunday’s Zoom conference. “That includes the times that we’re in the playoffs. That’s how I’ve always thought of it.”

He added that the team’s focus never drifts toward external context despite being one win away from the NBA Finals. “I haven’t really had the time to wonder where we are as a team,” he said. “All I focus on is how can we get better from the day before.”

New York enters Game 4 up 3-0 in the series after a 121-108 Game 3 win in Cleveland, where Brunson scored 30 points to lead a balanced offensive attack that has produced one of the most efficient playoff runs in recent NBA history.

When asked about the idea of legacy or reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, Brunson dismissed the framing entirely. “Nah. It doesn’t really cross my mind at all right now,” he said. “This is more focused on tomorrow and we cross that bridge when we get to it.”

The Knicks’ offense has leaned heavily on adaptability under head coach Mike Brown, shifting into more concept-based execution during the postseason. Brunson said that adjustment has been about responsiveness rather than rigid structure.

“We need to be able to adapt,” he said. “I don’t think I was necessarily thinking about other teams. It’s more focused on how can we be the best that we can be.”

He also noted that familiarity with modern playoff defenses has shaped how the Knicks operate. “We want to play… and I think we have the personnel and the character to do it,” Brunson said, emphasizing the group’s ability to function across multiple spacing and coverage scenarios.

Despite New York’s 10-game postseason winning streak and a series margin that has leaned heavily in their favor, Brunson pushed back on the idea that the team is peaking.

“I still think we have a lot of work to do,” he said. “We just want to get better every single day.”
