Harry Styles turned part of his latest Madison Square Garden concert into a celebration of Knicks star Jalen Brunson.
During the ninth night of his New York residency Saturday, Styles noticed Brunson watching from the crowd. The singer stopped to recognize the Knicks captain in front of the MSG audience, referring to him as the “King of New York.”
Styles also reminded those in attendance that Madison Square Garden is home to the reigning NBA champions. The shoutout drew a huge reaction from the crowd, while Brunson received the unexpected attention from his seat.
The singer joked that Brunson had probably come to the concert hoping for a quiet evening before asking the arena to show its appreciation for the Knicks star.
The recognition comes after a historic season for Brunson and New York. He helped the Knicks capture their first NBA championship in 53 years and earned NBA Finals MVP honors along the way.
Brunson is also becoming increasingly visible outside basketball. Later this month, he is scheduled to host the Season 52 premiere of “Saturday Night Live.”
Styles, meanwhile, is currently performing a 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden as part of his “Together, Together” tour.
