The Grizzlies continue to explore the trade market for Ja Morant, but finding a deal has reportedly proven difficult because of limited interest around the league.

Speaking on ESPN, Brian Windhorst described Morant as “flagrantly available,” suggesting Memphis is fully committed to moving on from its former franchise star.

“Flagrantly available,” said Windhorst when asked about Morant. “Like, couldn’t be more available.”

According to Windhorst, concerns about Morant’s contract and recent availability have made teams hesitant to pursue a deal.

He thinks the situation would be different if the guard were entering the final year of his contract.

“If Ja had one year on his contract, I think he would have been traded months ago,” Windhorst said. “Because I think that’s a reasonable risk. He is super motivated to have a big time year. But he has two years on his contract. So if you trade for him and it doesn’t work out, you’re left with an unpalatable amount of risk.”

Memphis has already reshaped its roster by trading Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., with the organization now reportedly planning to build around top draft pick Cameron Boozer.

Windhorst believes that direction makes a Morant trade inevitable.

“Memphis is pivoting. They’re done with this. They’ve traded Bane. They’ve traded Jackson. They want to make Cam Boozer the centerpiece of their team. They want to build elsewhere. They are highly motivated to trade him.”

Morant is under contract for two more seasons, but despite averaging 19.4 points and 8.1 assists last year, his injury history and off-court issues continue to complicate efforts to find a trade partner.
