EuroLeague shareholders are preparing for an important meeting that could determine the competition’s future structure.

The ECA Assembly of Syndicate Shareholders will take place on October 5 at Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, with Armani Olimpia Milan hosting the gathering, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

One of the main topics will be a possible NBA proposal to acquire the EuroLeague. The shareholders are expected to evaluate any offer that emerges following the NBA Board of Governors meeting.

If no partnership is reached, EuroLeague could proceed with its Transformational Strategic plan, previously presented by CEO Chus Bueno.

The proposal would expand the competition to 24 teams, including 21 permanent franchises beginning in the 2027-28 season.

More than 20 parties have already expressed interest, with 11 candidates reaching the advanced due diligence stage.

Their binding offers reportedly amount to nearly €700 million in franchise fees.

Overall investment could exceed €3.2 billion over five years, with EuroLeague targeting a collective enterprise value of around €4.3 billion by 2027.
