EuroLeague projects €13 billion valuation in 10-year business plan

Euroleague Basketball has unveiled a 10-year business plan projecting a combined value of more than €13 billion for the competition and its licensed clubs, alongside €3.4 billion in distributions to participating teams.

The plan was approved by all 13 EuroLeague shareholder clubs and was presented following the Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) shareholders’ meeting held on October 6 in Lake Como. It aims to increase commercial revenues, attract investment through expansion and improve the financial sustainability of clubs.

Euroleague Basketball targets €648 million in annual commercial revenues by the tenth year of the plan. The organization said its commercial revenues increased fivefold over the previous decade.

Of the projected €3.4 billion in total distributions over 10 years, €2.2 billion would come from commercial revenues, while another €1.2 billion is expected from franchise fees generated through two potential expansion windows in 2027 and 2031.

Euroleague Basketball currently has 15 binding offers on the table, with a combined value of €1.2 billion, reflecting interest in joining the competition as it moves toward a franchise-based model.

The plan also forecasts significant increases in the valuations of the League and its clubs. The 13 shareholder clubs currently have an estimated combined value of €1.8 billion, while the League itself is valued at €1.4 billion.

The transition to a franchise-based model is expected to deliver an immediate 25% increase in value from the 2026-27 season. By the end of the 10-year period, the collective value of the current licensed clubs is projected to reach €5.4 billion, while the League’s value is forecast to rise to €7.98 billion.

Financial sustainability is another central objective. Euroleague Basketball estimates that approximately 40% of licensed clubs currently operate sustainably and aims for all licensed clubs to achieve financial sustainability by the end of the plan’s first phase.

The organization also plans to strengthen its Financial Fair Play regulations and continue investing in technology, digital services and venues. Euroleague Basketball+ is intended to become the competition’s digital home, while the newly created VenueCO aims to provide clubs and other stakeholders with financing and expertise for venue construction, upgrades and improved utilization.

The financial plan builds on recent growth at club level. Average game-day revenues have doubled over the past three years, while commercial revenues have increased by 50% over the last three seasons.
