ESPN is reportedly making a strong push to lure Steve Kerr away from the Golden State Warriors, according to Marc Stein.
“League sources tell The Stein Line that ESPN’s top executives have been lobbying Kerr aggressively to try to convince him to return to the world of NBA broadcasting, but the Warriors are expected to meet with Kerr as early as Monday to resume discussions about his status.
“I’m told Golden State has been operating internally in recent days as though it is more likely than not that a common ground can be found with the 60-year-old on a new deal that would keep him in place coaching Stephen Curry.”
Kerr had a successful broadcasting career before becoming head coach of the Warriors.
After retiring in 2003, he joined Turner Sports as an analyst and became a familiar face on Inside the NBA, working with names like Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith.
He also called games as a color commentator, including NBA Finals broadcasts, earning recognition for his clear and insightful analysis.
Kerr later spent time with ESPN before moving back into team roles, eventually transitioning into coaching.
