Dylan Harper was forced to leave the San Antonio Spurs’ Game 2 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder after appearing to injure his right hamstring in the third quarter.

The injury occurred midway through the period when Harper drove to the rim for a layup and immediately reached for the back of his leg after landing awkwardly.

Although he briefly tried to remain in the game, the rookie guard was eventually taken out and did not return.

Harper is expected to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

San Antonio was already missing De’Aaron Fox, who remains sidelined with a high ankle sprain, leaving the Spurs short-handed in the backcourt.

That situation increased the responsibility on Stephon Castle, who handled much of the playmaking duties after Harper exited.

Following the game, Spurs coach Mitch Johnson admitted the injuries complicated things offensively against Oklahoma City’s pressure defense.

“When you’re down some of your primary creators and initiators it causes a little bit of an extra strain,” Johnson said.

The Spurs coach added that the team will need to adjust quickly moving forward.

Before leaving the game, Harper finished with 12 points, three assists, and two rebounds across 25 minutes.
