Dubai general manager Dejan Kamenjasevic discussed the club’s roster plans and spending during an interview with Mozzart Sport, including the search for another playmaker ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Dubai has explored several high-level options in the market, with Olympiacos guard Thomas Walkup among the players on its radar.
“We are looking for a playmaker,” Kamenjasevic said. “One of the players is Thomas Walkup. It will depend on the agreement with Olympiacos or his exit from that contract.”
Kamenjasevic acknowledged that Dubai has missed out on some targets because other clubs were prepared to offer more money, describing that as a normal part of the transfer market.
He also pushed back against the perception that Dubai operates with one of EuroLeague’s biggest budgets.
Kamenjasevic argued that speculation surrounding the club’s spending often becomes exaggerated, pointing to recent talk about Nikola Jokic.
“When the owner of a club comes out and publicly says he made an offer to Jokic, that is fine. Imagine if Dubai had done that. Imagine if I came out and said, ‘We made an offer to Jokic’. How would you look at us? What would happen?”
According to Kamenjasevic, Dubai’s budget does not rank among the five largest in EuroLeague.
He also expressed skepticism about the proposed NBA Europe project, describing it as “a cloud that constantly circles us.”
“Nothing will come of it, unless they reach a commercial agreement with the Euroleague,” Kamenjasevic added.
