Devin Booker remains the centerpiece of the Phoenix Suns, but questions are emerging about whether the current roster can provide him with another opportunity to compete for an NBA championship.
Booker is coming off a difficult four-game playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He made only five of his 20 three-point attempts and finished with 19 assists compared to 16 turnovers.
Despite those struggles, Booker remains one of the league’s top shooting guards and is under contract with Phoenix through the 2029-30 season.
The larger concern is the direction of the team around him as the Suns continue reshaping their roster and identity.
Phoenix performed better than expected last season, but the current group still appears to have significant ground to make up before becoming a serious championship contender.
Booker will turn 30 on October 30, adding another factor to the situation.

If the Suns remain far from contention, Booker could eventually face a decision about whether staying in Phoenix gives him the best opportunity to return to the NBA Finals.
