The San Antonio Spurs enter Wednesday night’s Western Conference finals Game 2 with their biggest injury note centered on De’Aaron Fox, who is listed as questionable with right ankle soreness. The Oklahoma City Thunder, meanwhile, have only one player on their report: Thomas Sorber is out while he continues to recover from right ACL surgery.
Game 2 tips off Wednesday, May 20, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, with the Spurs leading the series 1-0 after Monday’s 122-115 win in double overtime.
Fox has been one of the Spurs’ most important playoff scorers and playmakers, averaging 18.8 points and 5.8 assists per game in the 2026 postseason. He also ranks among San Antonio’s most efficient creators off the dribble, which matters even more in a tight series where every half-court possession carries extra weight.
If Fox is unable to go or is limited, the Spurs would lean more heavily on Victor Wembanyama, who has been their top postseason force at 22.2 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Stephon Castle’s 19.7 points and 6.5 assists per game also give San Antonio another ballhandler capable of absorbing some of the creation load.
The Thunder’s injury situation is much more stable, but the absence of Sorber remains part of their long-term depth picture. Oklahoma City will need the same core that powered its run to this stage, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 28.6 points and 7.7 assists per game in the playoffs, plus Chet Holmgren’s interior efficiency and shot blocking.
After losing a double-overtime opener at home, the Thunder cannot afford to let the series slip further while waiting for the Spurs to solve the Fox question. If San Antonio gets even a healthy version of its lead guard, Oklahoma City will have to defend a more complete attack than it saw in Game 1.
