Davis Bertans accepts national team position

Former NBA forward Davis Bertans is set to take on a new role in Latvian basketball after being appointed sports director of the country’s men’s national team program.

The position will give Bertans oversight of the entire national team structure, ranging from the Under-14 level all the way to the senior squad.

The former Latvian international brings extensive experience from both the NBA and international basketball to the role.

“During my playing career, I have had the great opportunity to work in world-class organizations with excellent coaches, team managers, and staff,” Bertans said.

The 33-year-old believes the knowledge he gained throughout his professional career can help strengthen Latvia’s basketball system and create the right conditions for success at every level.

“I am confident that this experience will help me create an environment where players, coaches, and staff can achieve the highest goals.”

Bertans also emphasized the importance of developing future generations and ensuring the continued growth of basketball in Latvia.

“At the same time, by getting involved and developing the next generation of basketball players to ensure the sustainability of Latvian basketball.”
