West Kerry have won the County Senior Football Championship opener.
In Annascaul they overcame St.Brendan’s 21 points to 2-14.
It was 3 points all after 6 minutes. Darragh O’Connor netted the opening goal of the encounter for Brendan’s after 7 minutes. West Kerry Hit back with 2 points in a row. A second Brendan’s goal, scored by Odhran Ferris, meant they led 2-3 to 0-5 after the opening quarter of an hour. It was 2-6 to 0-8 after 22 minutes and Brendan’s were ahead 2-8 to 0-9 at the break.
8 minutes into the second period Brendan’s were in front 2-10 t 0-11. West Kerry had the next 3 points to close the gap by the 42 minute mark. West Kerry turned it right around, opening up a 20 points to 2-12 advantage by the 52nd minute mark. They won by 1.
