Chelsea sign Welback

Danny Welbeck has joined Chelsea from Brighton on a contract until 2028.

The 35-year-old striker moves to Stamford Bridge to add some experience to the youngest squad in the Premier League.

He scored 26 top-flight goals across the past two seasons with Albion.

The Mali international midfielder has agreed a five-year contract, with an option to extend it until 2032.

He helped Lens to a second place finish in the French top-flight last season and was voted the best African player in the division.

The central defender moves to the Premier League club having won six titles for the Portuguese club and national team.

He joins Marco Rose’s side as a replacement for Marcos Senesi, who signed for Tottenham this summer.

West Ham joint-chair Vanessa Gold has agreed to sell her stake in the Premier League club to a consortium led by Amanda Staveley.

She took over a 25-point-1 percent shareholding of the east Londoners following the death of her father David in 2023.

Staveley was previously a co-owner of Newcastle and helped facilitate their Saudi-backed takeover.
