There had already been “chatter” about Billy Donovan potentially becoming the next head coach of the Orlando Magic even before he parted ways with the Chicago Bulls this offseason, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Donovan has history with Orlando, having previously agreed to take the job back in 2007 before ultimately choosing to return to Florida Gators men’s basketball.
The Magic are also said to have interest in Dusty May if he were to leave Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball, though current expectations are that he will remain there after winning a national championship.
Orlando’s season came to an end with a Game 7 loss to the Detroit Pistons in the first round on Sunday.
Meanwhile, then-head coach Jamahl Mosley had also been mentioned as a possible candidate for the New Orleans Pelicans’ open coaching position.
