FC Barcelona has strengthened its rebuilt roster by signing versatile forward Tosan Evbuomwan to a multi-year contract, adding one of the G League’s most productive forwards ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The 25-year-old arrives after a standout campaign with the Greensboro Swarm, where he averaged 18.2 points and 6.3 rebounds while helping the Charlotte Hornets’ G League affiliate capture the league championship. Evbuomwan was named G League Finals MVP after producing 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the title-clinching victory.
Barcelona is betting that production can translate to the EuroLeague as new head coach Aleksander Sekulic continues to reshape a squad that underwent significant offseason changes. The club finished ninth in the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season with a 21-17 record before missing out on the Final Four, prompting a major roster overhaul.
Evbuomwan split last season between the NBA and the G League. He began the year with the New York Knicks, making five NBA appearances, while also averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds across six games for the Westchester Knicks. He later joined Greensboro, where he became a centerpiece of the Swarm’s championship run.
His recent G League production has been remarkably consistent. Before arriving in Greensboro, Evbuomwan averaged 18.4 points and 6.9 rebounds in 16 games with the San Diego Clippers.
Although Evbuomwan has played 50 NBA games over the past three seasons with the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks, his largest role came during the 2024-25 campaign with Brooklyn. He averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 28 games while logging 23.8 minutes per contest. Across his NBA career, he has averaged 7.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 44.5% from the field.
The England native has followed an unconventional path to the professional level. Born in Newcastle, Evbuomwan did not begin playing competitive basketball until he was 14 before developing into one of the Ivy League’s top players at Princeton University. He earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors as a junior and was selected to the All-Ivy League First Team in both his junior and senior seasons.
Barcelona’s offseason has featured sweeping changes. Sekulic replaced Xavi Pascual as head coach, while veterans Jan Vesely, Tomas Satoransky, Willy Hernangomez, Nicolas Laprovittola and Will Clyburn all departed. The club has responded by bringing in Josh Nebo, Justin Robinson, Tyrese Martin, Olivier Nkamhoua, Agustin Ubal, Stanley Umude, Aleksander Balcerowski and Umoja Gibson, with Evbuomwan becoming the latest addition.
