FC Barcelona is preparing significant changes within their basketball department, with Xevi Pujol expected to replace Juan Carlos Navarro, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Navarro’s departure as general manager has already been decided as part of a wider restructuring following several disappointing seasons.
Barcelona already have an agreement in place with Pujol, who is currently working as sporting director at Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, although negotiations over his departure continue due to the two years remaining on his contract.
The 36-year-old built a strong reputation during his time at Baxi Manresa, where he helped create competitive teams that reached the Basketball Champions League final and regularly competed in the Liga Endesa playoffs and Copa del Rey.
He is also well known for identifying talent early, including players such as Sylvain Francisco and Chima Moneke.
His success earned him a move to Baskonia, where the club won the Copa del Rey under head coach Paolo Galbiati in his first season.
However, reports suggest his spell in Vitoria has also been affected by internal disagreements within the club.
