Nikola Mirotic has emerged as one of FC Barcelona’s main transfer targets this offseason, according to Jose Ignacio Huguet of Mundo Deportivo.
The 35-year-old forward is expected to leave AS Monaco following the club’s financial difficulties and has reportedly not ruled out a return to Barcelona.
According to the report, rejoining the Spanish powerhouse would be his preferred option if the club decides to make an offer, three years after his high-profile departure.
Barcelona is still searching for a marquee signing this summer, and Mirotic would immediately fill that role.
He previously enjoyed a highly successful four-year spell with the club after leaving the NBA in 2019, helping Barcelona win multiple Liga Endesa and Copa del Rey titles while being named EuroLeague MVP in 2022.
One of Europe’s most accomplished scorers, Mirotić has appeared in 307 EuroLeague games and scored more than 4,400 career points.
Last season with AS Monaco, he averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists across 31 EuroLeague appearances.
Before returning to Europe, Mirotic spent five seasons in the NBA after being selected 23rd overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.
He played 359 games with the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, and Milwaukee Bucks.
