ASVEL hit with player registration ban over €300K debt to Joffrey Lauvergne

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has reportedly been prohibited from registering new players after failing to meet its financial obligations to former center Joffrey Lauvergne.

According to Eurohoops sources, the French club still owes approximately €300,000 to the 35-year-old big man, who currently plays for Partizan Mozzart Bet.

The restriction was imposed after ASVEL missed two consecutive payments under a previously established agreement, prompting Lauvergne to take the organization back to the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT).

The resulting sanction prevents the club from adding new players to its roster until the matter is resolved.

Lauvergne represented ASVEL between 2022 and 2025 before returning to Partizan for a second stint last April.

The 2.11-meter center previously spent time in the NBA, making 208 appearances for the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs.

He has also accumulated 170 EuroLeague appearances throughout his career.
