AS Monaco have launched another legal effort to regain entry into France’s top basketball division for the 2026-27 season.
The reigning French champions announced they have referred their case to the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) after the French Basketball Federation’s Appeals Chamber upheld the decision blocking their participation.
“Following the decision of the FFBB Appeals Chamber, AS Monaco Basket-Ball S.A. has referred the matter to the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), initiating a conciliation procedure in order to secure a review of the club’s admission to the 2026-27 Betclic ELITE championship,” the club said.
Monaco were initially denied admission by the DNCCG in July over concerns about the club’s financial guarantees and uncertainty surrounding its proposed takeover. Although the club submitted additional documents during the appeal process, the ruling was ultimately upheld.
Former NBA All-Star Jamal Mashburn remains the key figure behind the proposed American investment group seeking to acquire the club. Monaco has since revised its financial plan in an effort to satisfy regulators.
Despite the setback, the club insists it will continue pursuing every available legal option.
“The club remains fully committed to exploring all legal avenues available under French sports law, while continuing its restructuring process in close cooperation with its institutional partners,” Monaco added.
