Arthur Fery is one set away from a place in the Wimbledon semi-finals as the British wildcard leads ninth seed Flavio Cobolli by two sets on Centre Court.
The 23-year-old Fery, ranked 114th in the world, is aiming to become only the second Wimbledon wildcard to reach the semi-finals and just the fifth British man to reach that stage in the Open era.
He has reached the quarter-finals in remarkable fashion, winning two match tiebreaks and twice coming back from two sets and breaks down to complete superb comebacks and keep home hopes of an improbable fairytale alive.
Standing in his way is recent French Open runner-up Cobolli, who Fery beat – albeit when the Italian was physically hampered – at the Australian Open in January, and who Fery now leads 6-4 7-6 (4).
Elsewhere in the quarter-finals, recent French Open semi-finalist Marta Kostyuk is through to the same stage at Wimbledon for the first time after a straight-sets victory over former runner-up Jasmine Paolini, with Taylor Fritz resuming his rivalry with Alexander Zverev later on.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic bids to recover from winning the longest ever Wimbledon quarter-final against third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, after five hours and 15 minutes, ahead of his semi-final clash with Jannik Sinner on Friday.
