The Washington Wizards have awarded Anthony Gill their 15th roster spot, extending the veteran forward’s tenure with the franchise to a seventh season.
Washington announced on Saturday, October 17, that it had waived guards Trevor Keels and Alondes Williams and forward Chris Livingston. Marc Stein subsequently reported that Gill, who attended training camp on an Exhibit 9 contract, had claimed the final spot on the Wizards’ roster.
The decision also coincided with Gill’s 34th birthday.
Gill originally joined Washington for the 2020-21 season and has remained with the franchise since. He signed a one-year, minimum-salary contract in September, continuing his run as the Wizards’ longest-tenured player.
The 6-foot-7 forward has appeared in 285 regular-season games for Washington over six seasons, including 55 appearances in 2025-26. He averaged career highs of 5.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.3 minutes per game last season, shooting 62.8% from the field and 35.4% from three-point range.
Gill’s role has generally been limited, but his production increased in 2025-26. Before that season, his career highs were 4.1 points per game in 2021-22 and 59 appearances in 2022-23.

Washington finished 17-65 in 2025-26, the NBA’s worst record, before winning the draft lottery and selecting AJ Dybantsa first overall. The Wizards also committed to Trae Young with a four-year, $212.8 million contract and added Deandre Ayton and Khris Middleton during the offseason.
With Gill securing the final roster spot, Washington retains a veteran who has spent his entire NBA career with the franchise as it begins a new phase of its rebuild.
