Anthony Edwards is reportedly pleased with the Minnesota Timberwolves’ offseason moves as the franchise reshaped its roster around its All-Star guard.
“Ant, from what I am told, is very pleased by the Wolves’ offseason,” Brian Windhorst said on The Hoop Collective podcast, via HoopsHype. “Going to get LaMelo (Ball), making this deal happen for (Jonathan) Kuminga.”
The Timberwolves made significant changes after finishing 49-33 and reaching the Western Conference semifinals, where they lost to the San Antonio Spurs 4-2. Minnesota subsequently committed major resources to adding LaMelo Ball and Jonathan Kuminga while retaining Ayo Dosunmu.
Ball arrived in a blockbuster four-team trade that sent Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round swaps and three second-round picks to Charlotte. The Timberwolves also acquired Josh Green from the Hornets as part of the broader transaction. Green was later traded to the Utah Jazz.
Minnesota had reportedly pursued Ball for two years before finally completing the deal. The former All-Star gives the Timberwolves a high-volume ball-handler to play alongside Edwards, who averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 61 games during the 2025-26 regular season.
Edwards shot 48.9% from the field and 39.9% from three-point range while averaging 3.4 made threes per game. He also finished third in Clutch Player of the Year voting and earned an All-Star selection.
The Wolves also added Kuminga on a two-year, $12.4 million contract using the taxpayer mid-level exception. The second year includes a player option, giving Minnesota another young forward to add to its rotation.
Kuminga joins a roster that already features Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels. Gobert averaged 10.9 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 76 games last season while earning All-Defensive First Team honors and finishing fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
McDaniels averaged 14.8 points while shooting 51.5% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range across 73 games. Dosunmu, meanwhile, averaged 14.4 points and shot 52.1% from the field in 24 games after joining Minnesota.
The offseason required substantial roster turnover to make the changes possible. Minnesota moved Julius Randle in a salary-clearing transaction, later traded Reid for Ball and eventually sent Green to Utah in a deal that brought back Cody Williams and John Konchar.
The Wolves also allowed Mike Conley and Kyle Anderson to leave in free agency while declining Julian Phillips’ team option.
Minnesota’s new core is built around Edwards, Ball, Gobert, McDaniels and Dosunmu, with Kuminga and Williams providing additional frontcourt depth.
