Alec Peters is leaving Olympiacos Piraeus after four seasons with the club, closing a chapter that included four straight EuroLeague Final Four appearances and the 2026 EuroLeague championship.
Olympiacos officially confirmed Peters’ departure on Tuesday, June 16, with the 31-year-old forward leaving Piraeus as one of the key figures of the team’s recent success. During his four seasons in Greece, Peters played 160 EuroLeague games, averaging a major role in the club’s rise to the top of European basketball.
Peters finished his Olympiacos EuroLeague career with 1,343 points, 512 rebounds, 150 assists and 63 steals. In the 2025-26 season, he appeared in 43 EuroLeague games, averaging 7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game while shooting 54.5% from the field and 41.8% from three-point range.
His final season ended with Olympiacos lifting the EuroLeague trophy after defeating Real Madrid 92-85 in the championship game at Telekom Center Athens. The Greek club finished the regular season first in the EuroLeague standings with a 26-12 record and completed its Final Four run by beating Fenerbahce 79-61 in the semifinals.
Peters also collected significant domestic success during his time with Olympiacos. He won three Greek League titles in 2023, 2025 and 2026, two Greek Cups in 2023 and 2024, and four Greek Super Cups from 2022 through 2025.
The forward’s EuroLeague journey began with CSKA Moscow, where he won his first continental championship in the 2018-19 season. After stops at Anadolu Efes and Baskonia, Peters joined Olympiacos in 2022 and became one of the competition’s most reliable power forwards.
In his farewell message, Peters reflected on the emotional difficulty of leaving the club after achieving the ultimate goal.
“It’s hard to think about the fact that I’ve worn that jersey for the last time,” Peters said. “Even though it’s the right decision, it’s still hard.”
Peters credited Olympiacos for helping him grow beyond basketball and highlighted the relationships he built in Greece.
“If you had told me four years ago that I’d be sitting here as a EuroLeague champion and a multiple-time Greek League champion… I would have said, ‘Sign me up,’” Peters said.
The forward added that winning the EuroLeague title provided the perfect ending to his Olympiacos tenure.
“To know that those will be my final moments as an Olympiacos basketball player, I honestly couldn’t imagine a better way to go out,” he said.
