Semi Ojeleye exits early in Crvena Zvezda defeat

Crvena Zvezda suffered its third consecutive preseason defeat, falling 98-74 to Aris Thessaloniki in Cyprus while also losing Semi Ojeleye to an early injury.

Ojeleye played just over a minute before landing awkwardly and grabbing his ankle.

He was helped to the bench and did not return, although he was able to put some weight on the injured leg.

The severity of the injury remains unclear.

The forward was an important part of Zvezda’s rotation last season, averaging 7.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in nearly 23 minutes per game.

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl powered Aris with 29 points and five rebounds while shooting 12-of-14 from the field.

Matthew Morgan added 18 points, three assists and three steals off the bench.

Johnathan Motley led Zvezda with 13 points and six rebounds, while Chris Jones scored 12 and Tyson Carter finished with 10.

The loss extended Zvezda’s preseason skid to three games after back-to-back defeats against Olympiacos.
