Bradley Beal could return to the Los Angeles Clippers after declining his $5.6 million player option, with Miami also showing interest in the veteran guard, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line. Beal is an unrestricted free agent after spending only six games with the Clippers during the 2025-26 season.
A return to Los Angeles remains possible despite Beal’s abbreviated first season with the franchise. He averaged 8.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 20.2 minutes per game while shooting 37.5% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.
Beal’s season ended after he suffered a left hip fracture that required surgery. The injury came after he joined the Clippers following his departure from Phoenix, and he ultimately appeared in only six of Los Angeles’ 82 regular-season games.
The limited sample contrasts sharply with Beal’s career production. The three-time All-Star has averaged 21.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists over 807 regular-season games, while shooting 46.4% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range.
Beal was considerably more productive during his final two seasons with the Washington Wizards before joining the Phoenix Suns. He averaged 31.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 60 games in 2020-21, earning All-NBA Third Team honors, after posting 30.5 points and 6.1 assists per game in 2019-20.
Miami has emerged as another potential destination as the Heat continue reshaping their roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. The Heat finished 43-39 and entered the postseason through the play-in tournament last season, so adding another perimeter scorer would give them another experienced offensive option.
The Clippers, meanwhile, finished 42-40 and reached the play-in tournament, where their season ended with a loss to Golden State. A healthy Beal would give Los Angeles a player with extensive experience operating as a primary scorer, although his 2025-26 production makes his next contract difficult to evaluate based on his most recent on-court sample.
Beal’s health will therefore be central to his free-agency market. He is expected to be available for the start of training camp, giving potential suitors an opportunity to evaluate whether the 33-year-old can return to the offensive level that produced three All-Star selections and a career scoring average of 21.4 points.
