Garrison Mathews joins Olimpia Milano

Garrison Mathews is set to continue his career in Europe after confirming that he will join Olimpia Milano for the upcoming season.

Reports last month indicated that Mathews had agreed to a one-plus-one contract with the Italian club, although Olimpia Milano has not yet officially announced the signing.

The deal is expected to be finalized after August 15, when Mathews arrives in Italy, completes his physical and joins the team ahead of training camp.

“I’m excited about the opportunity,” Mathews said. “I didn’t think I’d ever play (overseas), but I got a couple calls with some great offers that were too hard to pass up.”

The 29-year-old entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent out of Lipscomb in 2019. He went on to appear in 329 regular-season games with Washington, Houston, Atlanta and Indiana, averaging 6.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per game.

Mathews is primarily known for his outside shooting, having converted 38.2% of his 3.9 three-point attempts per game during his NBA career.

His most recent NBA opportunity came with the Pacers during the first half of the 2025-26 season, when he played on two 10-day contracts before receiving a non-guaranteed deal. Indiana waived him in December.

After spending some time at home near Nashville with family and “old friends,” Mathews is ready to resume his professional career in Italy. However, he still hopes a strong season with Olimpia Milano could eventually open another NBA opportunity.

“My ultimate goal is to have a good year and then hopefully get an opportunity to come back to play,” Mathews said.
