Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason has been granted a temporary restraining order against a woman he identified as his former girlfriend after accusing her of assault and property damage.
A judge approved the request on Thursday, prohibiting Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez from contacting Eason or coming near him, his home, workplace, vehicle or any NBA arena or practice facility where he is playing or training.
A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20 to determine whether the temporary order should be converted into a longer-term restraining order.
Earlier this week, Eason alleged in court filings that Rodriguez repeatedly punched him in the face and threatened to kill him.
He also claimed she entered his Airbnb and poured bleach over approximately $92,000 worth of designer clothing and other personal belongings.
The 25-year-old is preparing for his fifth season with the Rockets, and the temporary restraining order will remain in effect until the August hearing, preventing Rodriguez from approaching him during that period.
