Lixnaw and Brendan’s draw

Lixnaw and St Brendan’s have drawn in the Garvey’s Supervalu County Senior Hurling Championship.

In Group 1 it finished Lixnaw 2-17 St Brendan’s 1-20.

Brendan’s opened up a 4 nil lead before Lixnaw claimed their first point in the 6th minute through Shane Conway. Lixnaw got the deficit back to a single point, at 5-4 by the 11 minute mark. Fionan Egan’s third point for Brendan’s made it 6-4 in favour of his side. When Shane Conway put over his third point it was 6-5. It was 7 all by the 17th minute. Brendan’s went ahead by 2 points before Lixnaw goaled, Ricky Heffernan pouncing to net in the 23rd minute. Brendan’s went right up the other end, Earnan Ferris goaling for his side to put them back in front by 2. Brendan’s proceeded to open up a 1-12 to 1-8 advantage. At half time it was 1-14 to 1-9.

Lixnaw closed the gap to 1-16 to 1-12. Then, a superb Shane Conway goal after a mazy run had them within 1 in the 39th minute. With 10 minutes to go Lixnaw drew level at 2-15 to 1-18. Shane Conway pointed Lixnaw ahead and that lead was then doubled. Brendan’s got back on level terms at 2-17 to 1-20 with 6 minutes remaining. Both sides missed scoreable chances to go ahead and it ended honours even.

The game is followed by the Group 2 clash of Causeway and Kilmoyley at 4, also at Austin Stack Park.
