Zaccharie Risacher admitted that his most recent season with the Atlanta Hawks was difficult, but the former No. 1 overall pick says his confidence in his long-term NBA future remains unchanged.
Risacher described the season as a frustrating experience after seeing his role steadily decline as the year progressed.
“It was a pretty frustrating season because the playing time I got just kept decreasing,” Risacher said.
According to Risacher, the situation was made more difficult by a lack of clarity regarding his role and the reasons behind the reduction in minutes.
After beginning the season as a starter, he eventually found himself with a much smaller role by the time Atlanta was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Despite the setbacks, Risacher said he has focused on continuing his development rather than dwelling on the circumstances.
“I had to concentrate more on myself, make sure I kept moving forward despite the adversity,” Risacher said.
The young forward remains confident that he belongs in the league and believes better opportunities are ahead.
“I belong on an NBA court. There’s no doubt about that. I have confidence in myself.”
As he prepares for next season, Risacher is hoping to turn a challenging year into motivation for the next stage of his career.
