The Boston Celtics enter the offseason with multiple directions available as they look to strengthen the roster and return to championship contention.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, Boston’s options range from keeping the current core intact, pursuing a major blockbuster acquisition, or focusing on smaller moves designed to improve the team’s overall depth.
Smith views a complete return of the existing roster as the least likely scenario, suggesting the Celtics are expected to make meaningful changes rather than simply running things back after falling short of their goals.
The most realistic path may involve making targeted upgrades around the edges of the roster.
If Boston takes that approach, veterans Nikola Vucevic and Dalano Banton are not expected to remain with the team.
Smith also highlighted several potential free-agent targets who could help strengthen the roster, including Anfernee Simons, Quentin Grimes, and John Collins.
With a critical offseason ahead, the Celtics are expected to explore a variety of options as they attempt to build a deeper roster for next season.
