Having held its first edition in 2021, the Portugal Basketball Festival, hosted in Lisbon, celebrates its 6th edition this year on 27th and 28th June, cementing its position as one of the biggest youth basketball events in Portugal.
Designed to provide an experience that combines competition, culture and social inclusion, the tournament brings together national and international teams in a vibrant, educational and welcoming atmosphere, promoting values such as respect, diversity and team spirit.
The 2026 edition will feature more than 70 men’s and women’s teams and around 1,000 participants aged between 14 and 22, from 11 countries: the United States, Portugal, Canada, Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Bermuda, Belgium, France and Finland, with more than 4,000 visitors expected over the two days of competition.
Among the confirmed teams are SAWUSA, a selection of American university athletes, participating for the sixth consecutive year; AOS Academy from France, winners of the Under-17 category in 2023 and taking part for the fourth time; and Van City Academy with four teams from Canada.
More than just a tournament, the Portugal Basketball Festival is a project with a social impact, promoting diversity, sustainability and inclusion. This edition will also strengthen partnerships with public bodies that share the same vision of a sport that is more accessible, transformative and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
