Jaylen Brown responded to his All-NBA Second Team selection with a direct assessment of how he views his standing in the league and public perception following the announcement made on May 24.
“I’m not surprised,” Brown said, per Bobby Manning. “I’m aware of certain things…who I am, how I use my platform. I’m not the most liked player in the media, at times. At times I’m not the most liked by the fans … some of the things I say and do are a little controversial…”
The Boston Celtics forward was named to the All-NBA Second Team alongside Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Kevin Durant, and Jalen Brunson after another high-volume scoring season. The 29-year-old forward averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists during the regular season.
The Second Team recognition came in a season where he remained one of Boston’s primary offensive engines, operating as both a scorer and secondary playmaker. His efficiency profile included 47.7% shooting from the field and 79.5% from the free-throw line across 71 games.
Brown’s All-NBA selection adds another line to a résumé that already includes multiple All-Star appearances and previous All-NBA recognition.
The All-NBA First Team featured Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic, and Cade Cunningham.
