As the Oklahoma City Thunder look to defend their title, a major focus has been on Jalen Williams and whether he can return to peak form after being sidelined for extended stretches due to injuries this season.
In the Game 1 victory over the Phoenix Suns, he showed strong signs of doing exactly that, Rylan Stiles of Sports Illustrated noted.
According to Stiles, Williams stood out with his defensive instincts, particularly by disrupting passing lanes and chasing down loose balls, while also bringing consistent intensity on that end and attacking the rim with purpose offensively.
The 6’6″ wing put together a stat line of 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in 29 minutes, connecting on two of his five shots from three-point range.
His energy and impact were felt throughout the arena, helping ignite the Oklahoma City crowd, per Stiles.
