The Philadelphia 76ers have exercised their rookie-scale team option on guard V.J. Edgecombe for the 2027-28 NBA season, securing another year of contractual control over the young player.
The decision activates the third-year option on Edgecombe’s rookie contract, which will pay him $12.2 million next season.
Edgecombe, the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, made a significant contribution during his first season with Philadelphia, establishing himself as an important member of the team’s rotation.
The 6-foot-5 guard appeared in 75 games during his rookie campaign, averaging 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals per contest.
