2026-27 EuroCup draw set for July 8

The road to the 2026-27 EuroCup season officially begins on Wednesday, July 8, when the Regular Season draw takes place at the Mediapro Auditorium in Barcelona, Spain. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 12:45 CEST and will determine the composition of the competition’s two 16-team regular-season groups.

The 32 qualified clubs have been divided into eight seeding pots based on Euroleague Basketball’s three-year Club Ranking. Each seed contains four teams, with one team from each seed drawn into each group.

The Club Ranking is calculated using performances in EuroLeague and EuroCup competitions over the previous three seasons. Teams receive two points for every victory and one point for every tie or loss beginning with the Regular Season. Bonus points are also awarded for advancing through the knockout rounds, with two points for reaching the Round of 16, two more for the quarterfinals, one for the semifinals and one for reaching the finals.

If two clubs finish with the same ranking, the first tiebreaker is total wins over the three-year period. If teams remain tied, their final placement in the previous EuroLeague or EuroCup season is considered, followed by their domestic league finish after the playoffs. If necessary, the final tiebreaker is a random draw.

Seed 1 features the defending EuroCup champion together with the three highest-ranked remaining clubs. The first pot includes JL Bourg-en-Bresse, AS Monaco, Le Mans Sarthe Basket and Turk Telekom Ankara. Seed 2 consists of Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem, U-BT Cluj-Napoca, Bahcesehir College Istanbul and Tofas Bursa.

Seed 3 includes Kids&Us Manresa, La Laguna Tenerife, Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos and Buducnost VOLI Podgorica. Seed 4 is made up of Umana Reyer Venice, Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, Dolomiti Energia Trento and Ratiopharm Ulm.

The fifth seed contains Baglietto Derthona Tortona, Napoli Basketball, Maxima Roma and Roma Basketball. Seed 6 includes Aris Thessaloniki Betsson, Lietkabelis Panevezys, Neptunas Klaipeda and Siauliai Basketball.

Seed 7 features PAOK Thessaloniki, London Lions, Niners Chemnitz and Rostock Seawolves, while Seed 8 includes Skyliners Frankfurt, Sląsk Wroclaw, Balkan Botevgrad and Riga Zelli.

The primary draw restriction prevents teams from the same domestic league from being placed in the same Regular Season group. The only exception applies when more than four clubs from one domestic league qualify. In that scenario, Euroleague Basketball will balance those teams between the two groups for as long as possible before the restriction becomes impossible to maintain.

The draw will proceed seed by seed, beginning with Seed 1 and ending with Seed 8. Before each selection, the draw urn is refilled with only the eligible clubs from the current seed after applying league restrictions. If a club cannot be drawn into a particular group because it would create an impossible scenario later in the draw, the procedure allows that team to be assigned directly to the appropriate group. This system is designed to eliminate blocked draw situations while ensuring all restrictions are respected.
