Second-year point guard Yuki Kawamura, who was waived by the Bulls in October before being brought back earlier this month on a two-way contract, expressed appreciation for being active for the first time this season on Thursday, writes Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times.
Kawamura has now fully recovered from the blood clot in his lower right leg that originally led to his release from the team.
“Rehab wasn’t easy,” Kawamura said. “It was a long way. I found out I had a blood clot before the season started and I felt real bad because I was so super excited to play. I’m super happy to be here and to be back on the court.”
Despite standing just 5-foot-7, which makes him the shortest player currently in the NBA, Kawamura remains confident that he can compete at this level.
A longtime supporter of the Bulls, he said he is “super excited” about the opportunity to represent the organization and perform in front of its fan base now that he is healthy again.
