Anthony Davis will don No. 23 for the Washington Wizards, a number previously worn in Washington by Michael Jordan during the 2002-03 season, the team announced. The star forward joins the Wizards following a February 5 three-team trade, coming after the team also acquired Trae Young in a January deal, marking two major additions to the roster in just over a month.

Davis joins a reshaped Wizards roster following a three-team trade that sent Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, AJ Johnson, and Khris Middleton from Washington to Charlotte and Dallas, while bringing Davis, Dante Exum, Jaden Hardy, and D’Angelo Russell to the Wizards.

Davis, 32, has spent 14 seasons in the NBA, averaging 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game across 807 career appearances. His 2025-26 season with Dallas saw him produce 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 31.3 minutes per game over 20 contests.

Washington currently holds a 14-36 record, sitting 13th in the East, but the addition of Davis gives the team a veteran presence in the frontcourt alongside players like Alex Sarr and Skal Labissiere. His leadership is expected to help guide the younger rotation.
