Washington Wizards general manager Will Dawkins indicated that the organization is still optimistic about Anthony Davis returning to game action before the end of the season.
According to Dawkins, a more defined outlook on Davis’ availability should come around the All-Star break, when the team expects to have updated medical information.
This comes after a report on Saturday suggested that Davis could be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to groin and hand injuries, a claim Dawkins did not fully endorse.
“The plan for AD right now is to go back to Dallas and finish his rehab,” he said. “During All-Star break, he takes another visit for a doctor. And that’s a big appointment for us to kind of see where his progress is at.”
Dawkins emphasized that the upcoming medical evaluation will play a major role in determining next steps, as the Wizards continue to monitor Davis’ recovery and overall readiness to return.
He also noted that Trae Young, who has been dealing with a sprained knee, is on a similar evaluation timeline and will likewise be reassessed during the All-Star break.
“He’s still working on the court,” Dawkins said. “He started doing 1-on-0, he started doing a little bit of more 2-on-2 type actions. … He’s trending in a positive direction.”
