Limerick Celtics shocked the Domino’s Men’s Super League champions UCC Demons in Crescent College 91-88 in a game where the lead changed hands on 13 separate occasions and was also tied up at 13 different points. The Celtics trio of AJ Williams, Abdul Wurie and Finn Hughes all scored 20+ points for Celtics as they now progress to the quarter-finals to face St Vincent’s in December.

UCC Glanmire had a convincing 78-63 victory over Catalyst Fr. Mathews in the Domino’s WSL National Cup despite a 22-9 final quarter for Fr. Mathews to advance in the Domino’s WSL National Cup. 29 points from Grainne Dwyer and 19 from Laila Blair wasn’t enough as the home side continue their winless start to the season with an early exit from the WSL National Cup. For Glanmire, making the 12 kilometer journey was made worth it through a stunning 36-point and 9 rebound performance from Viane Cumber in what is for sure her best performance in blue to date. UCC Glanmire now face Midlands Park Portlaoise Panthers in the quarter-finals of the Domino’s WSL National Cup.

In the other fixture of the Domino’s WSL National Cup, Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell defeated Utility Trust St. Paul’s Killarney 78-74 in a game that was only decided inside the final minute of regulation. Tara Cousins dropped 34 points for Killarney in a game where they led by 10 points early on in the game but it was Edel Thornton and Maddie Cluse for Brunell who took over the game with the duo combining for 47 of Brunell’s 78 points. Thornton dropped 21, including the game-winning free-throw to clench a quarter-final berth for the Cork side in Kerry to set up a game against holders FloMAX Liffey Celtics in December.

Ballincollig followed up their late victory over Griffith College Éanna last week with a slightly more comfortable win this weekend in a 85-70 win to advance in the Domino’s MSL National Cup. The Cork side led by as much as 24 during the game with a dominant showing from Latavious Mitchell who scored 23 and added 14 rebounds for Ballincollig as he was flanked by a strong supporting cast with Latrell Jossell scoring 19 and Josh Steel and Adrian O’Sullivan both adding 14. The win sees Ballincollig host the undefeated Belfast Star in December in the MSL National Cup Quarter Finals.

In Tralee, Garvey’s Tralee Warriors overcame Energywise Ireland Neptune 72-64 behind 29-points from Irshaad Hunte along with 10 points and 12 assists from Jordan Perkins. Neptune started well and led by as much as 9 with a 9-0 run in the second quarter the turning point. After the half-time break, Tralee changed gear with a 22-9 third quarter giving them a 12-point lead heading into the final quarter. Despite a late flurry from Neptune, it was too little, too late as the Warriors advance to the quarter finals to face Killester.

Flexachem KCYMS managed to fight through a first-round game against EJ Sligo All-Stars 97-89. Emiliyan Grudov and Jeffrey Okeke combined for 53 points as Killorglin advanced to take on UCD Marian. Jazere Noel dropped 35 points for Sligo followed by 20 from RJ Etyle-Rock kept it within single digits throughout the game but a late flourish from Killorglin ensured the victory.
