White scores 37 as Bulls defeat short-handed Nuggets

Coby White erupted for 37 points to lead the Chicago Bulls past the Denver Nuggets 129-119 on Monday night.

Chicago (32-40) secured its eighth win in the last 10 games, strengthening its push for a higher seed in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.

Denver (45-28) played without Nikola Jokic for the fifth straight game due to a left ankle injury, while Aaron Gordon also sat out.

Josh Giddey added 26 points and nine assists for the Bulls, who wrapped up their six-game road trip with a 4-2 record.

Peyton Watson scored a career-high 24 points for the Nuggets, while Jamal Murray led the team with 28.

The game was tied entering the fourth quarter before Chicago seized control with a 17-4 run to go up 112-103. Denver battled back to cut the deficit to 125-119 with just over a minute remaining but failed to get any closer after Russell Westbrook missed a three-pointer.

Nikola Vucevic finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bulls, while Jalen Smith contributed 14 points off the bench. DeAndre Jordan, starting in Jokic’s absence, pulled down 17 rebounds for the Nuggets.
