The Golden State Warriors face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, January 24, with both teams managing notable absences ahead of a Western Conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM ET at Target Center, with Minnesota holding a 27-18 record and Golden State entering at 25-21.
Injuries loom large for the Warriors, who arrive on a two-game losing streak and are missing several rotation players. Steve Kerr’s group has relied heavily on spacing and ball movement this season, but depth concerns are becoming harder to ignore.
Golden State will again be without Jimmy Butler III, who is sidelined for the remainder of the season with a right knee ACL tear. Butler had averaged 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists before the injury, leaving a two-way void on the wing.
Jonathan Kuminga is also out due to left knee soreness, removing another athletic scoring option from the frontcourt rotation. Kuminga had been producing 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in limited action across 20 games.
Seth Curry remains unavailable with a left sciatic nerve issue, further thinning the backcourt shooting depth. Two-way players LJ Cryer and Malevy Leons are also listed as out, limiting lineup flexibility.
With those absences, the offense continues to flow primarily through Stephen Curry, who is averaging 27.4 points on 47.0 percent shooting. Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and Draymond Green are expected to shoulder expanded roles.
Minnesota’s injury report is lighter. Terrence Shannon Jr. is also sidelined with a left foot abductor hallucis strain, while Enrique Freeman and Rocco Zikarsky remain out on two-way assignments.
Anthony Edwards continues to lead the team with 29.6 points per game, supported by Julius Randle’s 22.6 points and 5.4 assists. Rudy Gobert anchors the interior with 11.3 rebounds per night, a key factor against a Warriors team averaging 42.8 boards.
The Timberwolves won the first meeting between these teams on December 12, 127-120, at Chase Center.
