The NBA has postponed Saturday’s matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center following a fatal shooting involving a man and federal agents in Minneapolis. Sources confirmed the incident, marking the second such event in a week and the third this month involving federal officers.
The contest, originally set for 5:30 PM ET, has been rescheduled for Sunday at 5:30 PM ET, creating back-to-back games between the teams on Sunday and Monday. Minnesota enters with a 27-18 record, while Golden State sits at 25-21.
Golden State faces significant absences, including Jimmy Butler III, out for the season with a right knee ACL tear, Jonathan Kuminga with left knee soreness, and Seth Curry sidelined by a left sciatic nerve issue. Two-way players LJ Cryer and Malevy Leons are also unavailable, leaving Stephen Curry to lead the offense.
Curry averages 27.4 points per game, with Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and Draymond Green expected to take on expanded roles. The Warriors have struggled recently, entering the postponement on a two-game losing streak.
Minnesota’s injury report is lighter, with Terrence Shannon Jr. sidelined with a left foot abductor hallucis strain and two-way players Enrique Freeman and Rocco Zikarsky unavailable. Anthony Edwards leads the team with 29.6 points per game, while Julius Randle adds 22.6 points and 5.4 assists. Rudy Gobert provides an anchor inside, averaging 11.3 rebounds per game.
The Timberwolves won the first meeting between these two teams this season on December 12, 127-120 at Chase Center.
