The Golden State Warriors have positioned themselves as the most aggressive team pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to league sources cited by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. reportedly agree that no player besides Stephen Curry is untouchable in talks for the Bucks star.
Antetokounmpo is said to be the Warriors’ primary focus ahead of the trade deadline, and if a deal cannot be completed by Thursday, Golden State plans to retain its key assets and revisit negotiations in the offseason.
Siegel reports that Milwaukee has not rejected the Warriors’ latest offer, with Bucks GM Jon Horst and the front office described as “fascinated” by the potential return of Golden State’s future draft assets.
However, a decision is not expected until the final day before the deadline.
If Antetokounmpo remains with the Bucks through the season, it would make a Jonathan Kuminga trade less likely, as Golden State holds a $24.3 million team option on him for 2026/27.
The Warriors have also expressed some interest in Michael Porter Jr. and Trey Murphy III, though neither is considered a likely acquisition before the deadline.
There is also increasing belief that Draymond Green, rather than Jimmy Butler, could be included in a Giannis deal.
Siegel notes he did not receive an “emphatic no” from sources regarding Green’s involvement, and one rival executive suggested teams would be willing to part with draft assets for Green if it helped facilitate a blockbuster trade for Antetokounmpo.
