Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola admits he is short of wingers for the start of the Premier League but hopes to rectify it before the close of the transfer window. Liverpool have had two offers for Yankuba Minteh, the latest for £60m, rebuffed by Brighton, as they step up their search for a successor to Mohamed Salah, but there are no plans to replace Curtis Jones after his £30m move to Inter. Liverpool are also interested in Bradley Barcola, but Paris Saint-Germain are looking for £145m.
Arsenal are exploring a move for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz as Mikel Arteta seeks to complete his transfer plans for an assault on both the Champions League and Premier League for the new season. The Gunners have agreed to sign Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, who will arrive at Arsenal on Friday, but the left side of attack has long been identified as a priority position and the 21-year-old Turkey international is high up on their list of targets.
Manchester United are to splash more than £70m on Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, ending a pursuit that begun last summer and bringing in further reinforcements to their midfield, while Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial £75m. Spurs also want to sign Omar Marmoush, while City have identified Brazilian winger Allan as a possible replacement.

Man Utd seal £70m move for Carlos Baleba
Manchester United have agreed a £70m deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, with the midfielder to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.

Unai Emery admits Ollie Watkins could be sold as Emiliano Martinez asks to leave Aston Villa
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has conceded that Ollie Watkins may become the latest high-profile departure from Villa Park this summer, while confirming that goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has requested a transfer.
Although Villa turned down four separate offers from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal for Watkins this week, Emery refused to rule out a potential exit for the England forward, who could join Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne and Youri Tielemans in departing the club.
With Ezri Konsa’s transfer to Arsenal confirmed on Friday afternoon, Emery acknowledged an “issue” regarding Watkins, noting that a sale remains possible if the financial conditions are suitable.
Konsa speaks on Arsenal move
“I know he loves defenders who can really defend and defenders who are calm on the ball. His style suits me so I can’t wait to get going,” said Ezri Konsa today when asked about playing under Mikel Arteta and signing for Arsenal.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family to play for one of the best teams in the world. So yeah, a lot of emotions have gone through my head, but I think it will really kick in on the first matchday.
“I want to keep winning, [I’m] hungry to win and that’s what I’m here for.
“I’m here to win. I’ll do everything in my power to continue bringing success to this club,” he added.
The defender has joined the Gunners for a fee of £51m and is their fifth signing of the summer, and he could make his debut against his old club next week.
When can Ezri Konsa make his Arsenal debut?
The former Aston Villa defender moves to north London in a deal worth £51m, and he has signed a four-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.
The defender – who can play at both centre-back and right-back – was targeted for his versatility, as well as for cover for the injured Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, the latter of whom could be out until late this year after requiring surgery on a back injury.
Arsenal to sign Blackburn starlet
Arsenal have moved for a star of the future after striking a deal with Blackburn Rovers for forward Igor Tyjon, reports The Athletic.
The 18-year-old is a long-standing target and after failing with several bids, but now the forward is poised to complete a switch to the Gunners.
A medical is planned for later on Friday, with Tyjon’s experience including two Championship appearances.
Tyjon also featured for England at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2025 and has scored twice for that age group, while also featuring for Poland’s youth sides.
Transfer that could still happen: Julian Alvarez to Barcelona or Arsenal
The saga around Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez is another that has rumbled on throughout the summer, and the Argentina international has been Arsenal’s primary target throughout the window. The Gunners seemingly turned their attentions elsewhere after the Argentine made it clear that he hoped to join Barcelona, but with Atletico refusing to do business with their LaLiga rivals, the door could open up for Mikel Arteta and co. Any deal would be a club record though, with Atletico having turned down bids of £85m and £130m from Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. The Spanish club insist Alvarez is not for sale at any price this summer, though Arsenal could yet decide to test their resolve.

Transfers that could still happen: Nico Gonzalez to Newcastle?
Another midfielder who could be leaving the Etihad is Nicolas Gonzalez. The Spaniard joined from Porto for £50m in February 2025, but he has not managed to settle in Manchester and was seemingly not trusted by Guardiola.
Reports suggest that Newcastle are looking to sign the Spaniard, and while he may feel he can still make an impact at the Etihad, City may choose to cash in (if they can recoup the fee they paid for him) as they continue their midfield rebuild.

The second bid was worth £60m, but again it did not meet Brighton’s valuation of the player.
