Transfer news LIVE: Liverpool make Real Madrid enquiry after Minteh bid rejected, Arsenal target to stay at Juventus

Copa Independent | The Premier League’s new era

The Premier League is back but that will not stop the transfer madness bubbling away in the background with more than a week remaining in the window.

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has admitted that he is short of wingers, which has seen two offers for Yankuba Minteh, the latest for £60m, rebuffed by Brighton, as they step up their search for a successor to Mohamed Salah. Curtis Jones has left for £30m, joining Inter. And the Reds would like two wide players, Minteh and then, perhaps, Bradley Barcola, but Paris Saint-Germain are looking for £145m. Real Madrid’s Endrick has also been floated as an option this weekend.

Arsenal are exploring a move for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz as Mikel Arteta seeks to complete his transfer plans for an assault on both the Champions League and Premier League for the new season. The Gunners have announced the signing of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, with attention now turning to the left side of attack and the 21-year-old Turkey international is high up on their list of targets.

Manchester United have a deal in place to sign Brighton’s Carlos Baleba for £70m, ending a pursuit that begun last summer, while Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial £75m, with Omar Marmoush tipped to follow the Brazilian. While City have identified Brazilian winger Allan as a possible replacement.

Liverpool ready to walk away from Minteh negotiations?

Liverpool could walk away from Yankuba Minteh negotiations, reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein. In conversation with TNT Sports, Ornstein states that if the numbers aren’t right, and Brighton want more than £70m, despite a £60m offer rejected, then Liverpool have another target they could pivot to.

Ian Wright unhappy over Gabriel Martinelli’s treatment

Ian Wright said Arsenal’s handling of Gabriel Martinelli’s potential exit from the club has left him feeling “uncomfortable” and claimed the forward deserves “more respect”.

Martinelli, who has played nearly 300 times across seven seasons for the Gunners, was left out of Arsenal’s squad for their opening-night win over Coventry at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are exploring selling Martinelli, who has one year remaining on his contract, but Wright believes the Brazil international, also omitted from Arsenal’s Community Shield victory against Manchester City last Sunday, is being left in the dark over his future.

“The way Martinelli is being treated at the moment, it really makes me feel uncomfortable,” said former Arsenal striker Wright following the Gunners’ 3-0 victory on Friday.

“The way he’s been treated at the end here, I know they might want him out, and a lot of people might say, ‘Yeah, it’s time for him to move him on’. But there’s ways of doing that and it should suit him as well, how he wants to leave.

“Not being involved in the squad (last night), not being spoken to, he doesn’t know what’s going on. And yes, I know this, I know this. He doesn’t know what is happening.”

Hull City owner details mindset for transfer market

“In football it’s the same, when you want a player, good player, he’s doubtful, the player wants to come to you to the Premier League, but our eyes are on the higher levels,” Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı tells TNT Sports.

“Two months, five months for specific players to convince them, it’s not easy, it’s expensive, I would say the biggest game in the world is this transfer puzzle to try and compete.

“I enjoy it, but only when I get what I want, if not, I’m depressed, if I have the target I do everything to get it. There are limits. They don’t let us do it, you have a certain budget.”
