Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal open talks for Guimaraes, Vinicius Jr breakthrough, Rashford’s shock suitors

‘We won’t sit still’ – Arteta on Gunners’ ‘ambitious’ transfer market

Arsenal have opened talks over Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, though an initial bid has been knocked back with the two clubs now set to negotiate over a fee. Their pursuit of Vinicius Jr continues, too, although Real Madrid are said to have offered fresh terms to the Brazilian after his return to training this week.

In order to facilitate two huge deals – both would need fees near to or in excess of £100m – Arsenal may need to sell. Christian Norgaard is set for the exit after a single season at the Emirates with Everton is his next destination, it seems. Myles Lewis-Skelly could also be an eye-raising sale with Manchester United exploring their options to bring the defender in as Michael Carrick looks to bolster his squad.

United’s aim is for a left-back with Lewis Hall also in the mix as Newcastle struggle to hold on to their stars in a summer of rebuilding. One man who could be on his way out of Old Trafford is Marcus Rashford, with Fenerbahce a surprise suitor for the England international.

Manchester United consider intriguing move for Arsenal defender

The Old Trafford hierarchy have long-standing interest in the Lewis-Skelly and are aiming to see whether Arsenal would do business, given the English champions’ plan to spend big over the next few weeks.

There was the possibility of a move last season, when Lewis-Skelly found himself out of the team for long stretches of the campaign, but a late-season revival has transformed his profile. The youngster started the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, and offered crucial energy in the late burst to clinch the title.

Arsenal summer signing Christos Tzolis throws down gauntlet to Premier League title rivals

New Arsenal signing Christos Tzolis has boldly declared the reigning Premier League champions are fully prepared to defend their crown, insisting that the “pressure” now rests squarely on their rivals to prevent them from securing back-to-back titles.

The Greece international, who joined the Gunners in a £34 million move from Club Brugge, marked his debut with a goal in Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Girona.

“Of course. To defend a title, you don’t have to think about it. It’s more difficult for the other teams because the pressure is there, not on the team who won the title,” he stated.

Tottenham teenager Mikey Moore set for another loan as Bundesliga club lead race for highly-rated star

Tottenham’s highly-rated young attacker Mikey Moore is poised for a loan move away from the club, with German side Koln currently leading the race for his signature.

The decision comes despite the 18-year-old’s promising pre-season performances under manager Roberto De Zerbi, as all parties agree another temporary spell elsewhere would best serve the versatile forward’s development.

Moore enjoyed a standout season at Rangers last term, where he netted seven goals and was crowned PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year, overcoming a challenging start in Glasgow.
